The imh Energy Days brought together the key players in the Austrian energy sector on 10 and 11 November 2025 and offered an important platform for orientation and exchange with specialist conferences on storage, grids and data management. Security of supply, the new Electricity Act and paths to energy self-sufficiency were discussed in plenary sessions, while keynote speeches and panels showed how technical innovations and clear framework conditions are making a decisive contribution to the energy transition.
Over 2,200 facilities, 1,500 MW flexibility
World Direct has been an active driver of these developments for many years and is now one of the leading players in the digital integration of energy storage systems in Europe. With more than 2,200 connected systems and around 1,500 megawatts of marketable flexibility, we have a unique range of projects - from large-scale industrial systems and battery storage systems to charging infrastructure and intelligently controlled home technologies. This diversity enables us to reliably bundle a wide variety of sources and make them available on the market, allowing us to make a tangible contribution to the stability and modernisation of the energy system.
From the large battery to the household
As part of the storage conference, Tarek Ayoub, Head of Energy Solutions at World Direct, gave a practical insight into the technical and operational connection of storage systems to the energy market. He showed how important clear interfaces, reliable communication and coordinated interaction between manufacturers, operators and market partners are to ensure that batteries and flexible systems can be safely controlled and integrated into virtual power plants. The presentation made it clear that successful storage integration is less a question of hardware, but rather depends on standardisation, digital processes and a well thought-out operating model. At the same time, it became clear how active collaboration and a deep understanding of the market and system can accelerate the use of such technologies and maximise their benefits for the energy system.
smartBoiler for the household
Our smartBoiler is a clear example of how energy flexibility can be utilised on a small scale. The appliance is intelligently controlled remotely and utilises times when electricity is available at particularly low cost to heat water. This allows households to significantly minimise their costs. The benefits of modern control technology are therefore not only reserved for large storage systems, but also give private households easy access to intelligent energy management - with directly noticeable financial benefits in everyday life.
