smartBoiler from World Direct at the national award ceremony
The special VERENA prize - short for VERBUNG ENOVATION AWARD- is awarded by VERBUND as part of the State Prize for Innovation to companies that have realised outstanding projects in the energy sector in cooperation with universities, universities of applied sciences or non-university research institutions.
We developed the smartBoiler in collaboration with Austria Email, the University of Innsbruck and the Austrian Institute of Technology. Our innovative solution for cost-saving water heating was recognised as an outstanding project and nominated for the special prize.
We are proud to be one of the most innovative projects in the energy sector in Austria. A big thank you goes to our partners who have developed the smartBoiler ECO Grid with us. It is a good feeling to be making a concrete contribution to a secure energy future.

Why is the smartBoiler so forward-looking?
Water heating is one of the most energy-intensive processes in the household. The potential to save costs and resources here is enormous. We have equipped a high-quality boiler with IoT technology and thus made it "smart". A module integrated into the boiler communicates with our servers via the A1 mobile network. This allows the smartBoiler to be controlled externally and participate in the balancing energy market. It heats up when surplus electricity is available and electricity prices are correspondingly low.
Our intelligent water heater not only saves costs, but also helps to reduce the load on the electricity grid and make the best possible use of renewable energy. This means that every household can contribute to achieving climate targets.
